Tonight, we really focused on ‘precision’ in our techniques both as nage and uke. It’s human tendency to want to speed up, rush, hurry and get to the finish line but when you slow down and focus on specific details and work on being precise in your attack, your technique, the direction, the speed, your center, you ability to move your partners center, etc. beautiful aikido evolves. Whether it’s your first day on the mat or twenty years of practice, we all must slow down before the entire process passes us by. On a special note, if you’re preparing for an Aikido test, it’s even more important to have ‘precision’ in your practice. Developing these habits early on only leads to rapid advancement later.
